I think about that issue, tone, more than people might think I do. It's nice that folks seem to dig it, but I think if it works at all, it's because it's natural.
I don't tend to speak that way in real life constantly, but it is a...playback of the vocalizing I hear in my head when I read something that really pisses me off. To be honest, if Dildo was better with his facts, I'd not care that he's a whiny little macmac. But if you're going to talk about technical issues, *especially* if you're putting your name on a book about them, then you have to get that shit correct. Period.

Of all of the bullshit that the New Media Douchebags bring to the table, this faux sense of congeniality has to be one of the more annoying. Dildo, Arrington, Winer, Calcanis all use this exact same playbook. Ramp up the rhetoric to get their sycophants frothing, but the second that someone uses a "swear" (gods that term is immature), immediately play the "I'm going to dismiss you because of your language/I'm soooo offended/Why can't we all just get aloooong" card. Does Dildo even deserve the NMD title? I think it gives him too much credibility. The guy is nothing more than a real life Artie McStrawman. I have yet to figure out why anyone takes his word on anything. Sure he puts some effort into writing things, and breaking them into paragraphs, and putting section headings on them. But looking up actual facts seems like it's too difficult.
He's the exact reason why people have a bad opinion of Mac users. As best as I can tell, Steve Jobs could shit in a box, sell it for $999, and his only criticism would be that Apple wasn't charging enough for it. He makes the MacMacs seem tame.

You're probably right. I was being a bit overly general in my including Dildo in the NMD camp. Truth be told, Dildo is more an example of the MacMac version of a Thurrot or Enderle. He writes idiotic fact-deficient screeds to pump up Apple instead of Microsoft. The difference is, while I'm sure that Balmer jizzes every time he reads an Enderle piece, I'm sure Steve Jobs has explored options for having Dildo buried in a desert (if you're reading this Steve, my rates are reasonable, and I'm discreet).
He actually follows the Dvorak method almost to the letter. I'm sure he knows what he's saying is bullshit, but hey - like John D, he knows it gets the page views.

I have to admit that I only posted your link on Dilgar's post because I wanted to stimulate discussion. By throwing gasoline on a fire. I wasn't too impressed with Dilgar's response, since he managed to be even more passive-aggressive than the last time this happened. It was all of the other people whining about how disturbed they are by all of the horrible foul language here. I think their heads would implode if they ever saw something REALLY disturbing. But I suppose I can't ask too much of the people who fall over themselves to kiss Dilgar's ass after every post (MS is doomed, MS = FAIL, Zune is teh sukzors, etc).

Looks like Mr. I.T. Consultant Dilger let his roughlydrafted.com domain expire. I just went there and got a generic GoDaddy page. The whois info shows that the domain was updated today.
I wonder if he exclaimed "Oh Gosh!" when that happened or put a sock on his left hand and had that curse up a blue streak for him.
